Position: Design Consultant (Controls/Protection)

Duration: 1 year

Location: Newark, NJ 07101

 

Job Description:

  • Review of controls & protection design projects for switching stations and substations in PSE&G

Main Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in the detailed engineering/design of controls/protection parts of the projects for electric utilities switching stations and substations 13kV up to 500kV
  • PLEASE NOTE: Experience in Fossil does not qualify for the experience for switching stations and substations.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Review of control one line diagrams and schematics for controls/protection for major transmission/distribution projects that might involve:
  • Knowledge of MICROSTATION or AUTOCAD a big plus
    • New substations and switching stations or their modifications for 13 to 500kV
    • Instrumentation, controls, alarms, and indication for installation/replacement of high voltage XFMRS, PARs, reactors, BKRS, SWGRS & GIS
    • Protective schemes with SEL and GE microprocessor protective relays for high voltage lines, remote trips, BKR failure protection, XFMR/PAR protection, BUS protection, etc.
  • The person shall be able to understand a scope of work, quickly learn company standards applicable for the above mentioned projects, and have educational (BS as a minimum) & professional experience working on design and reviews of similar projects at least for 10 years.
